Foreign Minister Davutoğlu inaugurated “Turkish Lounge” at the UN, 1.6.2017
Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and Mr. Jan Eliasson, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations inaugurated “Turkish Lounge” at the entrance of the UN Security Council.
Speaking at the ceremony, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu pointing out the humanitarian tragedies in Syria, Palestine, Somalia, Mali and in many corners of the world said “We hope that as the executive organ of the UN, Security Council will work in an effective way without waiting for three years to reach agreement on a specific crisis and Turkish Lounge will be a place where good initiatives are achieved for peace.”
Expressing that the tiles at the "Turkish Lounge" display Turkey’s artistic side, Foreign Minister Davutoğlu pointed out that the tablet containing the text of the Kadesh Treaty which is located at the “Turkish Lounge” includes valid messages for the solution to today’s issues.
Turkey will continue to serve for peace makers and the UN said Foreign Minister Davutoğlu and mentioned that during the long negotiations Turkish coffee will be offered in the "Turkish Lounge".
